The White Hart Pub & Kitchen  is a beautiful 16th century pub situated in the village of Bishops Caundle, a stones throw away from the stunning West Dorset coastline, and rolling hills 

You are always assured of a warm welcome to The White Hart . 

There's plenty to do all year round, whether you are relaxing in the large beer garden with stunning views on a hot summers day, enjoying an award winning local ale in the bar next to the log burner or tucking into some traditional locally sourced pub fare. 


We also offer two lovely en-suite B&B rooms if you plan on spending days exploring the spectacular landscapes of the Dorset coastline and Jurassic Coast. 

We are more than happy to welcome dogs in the garden, upper bar area and bedrooms. 



Our countryside pub is home to the very best local and fresh products, produced by award winning chef accompanied by a selection of local Real Ales and a great selection of pairing wines

Our philosophy on food is very simple. Source the best quality ingredients and treat them with respect.

We believe there is no better place than being at the dinner table with family, the table must be packed with food, everyone digging in and helping themselves.

Our menu is varied offering a fantastic range of meals that everyone can enjoy with all tastes catered for.

We also have a children’s menu for the little ones or if you are in a group of 10 or more you can take advantage of our custom menu for all occations

Food without drink is like Tonic without the Gin! We have a fantastic range of real ales, premium lagers and individually sourced spirits to please even the most picky connoisseur.

Our house ale is Dartmoor Jail Ale being backed up by our adored local ales from Palmers and the third pump is a guest different each week.


We also stock Dorset Orchard and Haze two amazing ciders from local farms. 

And as caffeine addicts we know great coffee when we try one and The White Hart is proud to serve our house blend which is a beautifully balanced, versatile coffee that can be brewed with any method.

Weddings at The White Hart 

For private parties, weddings and functions we have a wide range of menus available to suit all budgets, These are achieved by custom menus being offered for all parties, Local Fresh and no extra cost. Special off peak discounts are available.

Function Room 

Our function room offers waitress service making them self-contained with dance floor and access to the garden. As we do not levy a room hire change, minimum numbers apply to the rooms. Please enquire for more information.

SCOTTISH SMOKED SALMON with quail egg, lumpfish caviar & mayonnaise dressing
SEASONAL GAME & PORK TERRINE with toasted brioche and red onion relish
WARM PASTRY TARTLET with mozzarella and diced tomatoes, topped with melted Taleggio cheese and drizzled with olive oil and basil dressing


Main Courses 

ESCALOPE OF TURKEY in a cream and white wine sauce garnished with asparagus
BREAST OF CHICKEN topped with Parma ham, tomato & basil, wrapped in puff pastry and served on a fresh tomato sauce PRIME ROAST BEEF with Yorkshire pudding, gravy & horseradish sauce
BONED ROAST LEG OF LAMB sliced and served in a red wine & Rosemary gravy

Vegetarian Meals & special dietary requirements; We will be happy to discuss these with you at the final meeting and will prepare one dish suitable for all special dietary requirements.
